Halo Infinite is in the middle of the multiplayer world with the release of the beta available now on Xbox and PC. Although Battlefield 2042 and Call of Duty: Vanguard have recently been released, Halo Infinite is receiving the majority of the goodwill and praise, even with small issues with the battle pass in Halo Infinite and other problems that 343 Industries will look to address. Much of the love has to do with Infinite’s balance between nostalgia and revolutionary new gameplay, and a recent upload on Reddit captures this wonderfully.

Reddit user I_Dont_Have_Corona recently uploaded an image to showing Halo Infinite running on a CRT television. The original Xbox console was not capable of outputting HD, as the Xbox 360 was the first to output 720p. And even with HDTVs becoming popular and common in the late 2000s, many players enjoyed Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, and Halo 3 on older CRT TVs before they upgraded.

When thinking of local co-op fun, the Halo franchise is perhaps the number one series for LAN party fun. And when thinking of that style of play, the idea of playing split-screen or online matches on a CRT screen is what countless gamers think of. So it makes sense that I_Dont_Have_Corona would get Halo Infinite to run on a small CRT TV for nostaliga if nothing else.

Beyond the crisp multiplayer enjoyment, countless players are enjoying Halo Infinite because it brings them back to the roots of simplistic and classic online gaming. Perhaps one of the questions is if Halo Infinite can be sustainable, if the game has the legs and substance to keep players coming back. The hope is that hackers stay away from Halo Infinite, 343 Industries continues to support the game, the game remains fresh and exciting, and that the community can enjoy it for years to come.

Halo Infinite will release for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on December 8. The multiplayer beta is available now.
