Posted to the account @wesdaisy, the text over the video said the woman was snorkeling in San Juan when the crab got into her ear. The clip prompted TikTok users to express their discomfort, while others declared they would wear earplugs in the water while on vacation.

According to OpenWaterHQ, earplugs can help swimmers avoid an ear infection known as Swimmer’s Ear.

“For those who only plan on snorkeling along the water’s surface, then regular swimming earplugs will be sufficient,” the piece stated, noting that people also have an option to purchase moldable earplugs.

These earplugs mold to the shape of the swimmer’s ear and create an “airtight” seal.

In @wesdaisy’s video, the camera zoomed in to record the process as another person used a pair of metal forceps to gradually coax the small crab out of the ear.

At first, viewers are unable to see the crab, but after a bit of time and persistence to draw it out, the crab’s leg appears. It quickly scurried out of the woman’s ear and jumped onto the ground.

“Thanks for the warning,” a viewer commented. “Earplugs when in the water while on vacation.”

“Wear earplugs when snorkeling GOT IT!” another TikTok viewer wrote.

One commenter joked, “He wanted to whisper to you about your extended car warranty.”

Other commenters wrote of their surprise when the crab suddenly crawled out of the woman’s ear.

“I jumped when it came out her ear,” one viewer commented.

Some claimed that the video gave them something new to worry about when going to the beach.

“Like I don’t have enough issues with the ocean already…no thanks,” a TikToker wrote.

Commented another, “Whew not you got me nervous about going under any waters.”

“New fear unlocked,” a comment read.

Newsweek reached out to @wesdaisy for further comment but did not hear back in time for publication.

Other TikTok users have shared videos to the popular video-sharing platform that have shocked viewers.

One video, for example, went viral after an owner discovered her cat was scaling the side of her building, as Newsweek previously reported.

Another woman was stunned by a text message she received after applying for a job. She reportedly heard back from an employee at the company who asked if she was still interested in the position before calling her a “piece of crap.”

A different viral video showed a customer having an apparent temper tantrum as she threw food on the floor while at Starbucks.
