In a post on Reddit, a user known as darren_connor shared a gameplay clip from Battlefield 2042. The video took place during a game of Hazard Zone on the Orbital map. The clip started with the player racing across a field as they attempted to redeploy a fallen teammate. However, this was no ordinary race.
As the player ran, explosions began to sound. After a few more moments, the giant rocket on the map exploded, sending debris across the field. At one point, large pieces of shrapnel flew by the screen close to the player. Undeterred, darren_connor persevered and successfully redeployed their teammate. After doing so, they turned and looked towards the sky. As if the tremendous explosion of the rocket wasn’t enough, a violent tornado was heading in their direction.
This video captured by darren_connor caught the attention of many members of the Battlefield community on Reddit. With over 3,700 upvotes in only a few days, many gamers were impressed by the visual spectacle. In addition, some thought Battlefield 2042 had a very cinematic feel due to the destructive elements and large maps that supported 128 players. Furthermore, a number of gamers, along with darren_connor, believed that the gameplay clip was reminiscent of a scene from the World War 1 movie 1917.
While most gamers enjoyed the video, many also commented about the state of the game. According to many users on Reddit, the game was more about the visuals and less about the gameplay. This frustrated sentiment has been echoed by the negative user reviews for Battlefield 2042 ahead of its complete release.
While Battlefield 2042 faces a number of challenges in order to be successful, this video clip from darren_connor shows that the game has the potential to create some stunning moments. With the game available now as part of early access, it will be interesting to see what other unusual experiences players capture on the battlefield.
Battlefield 2042 releases November 19 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
