The draw at Stamford Bridge was Chelsea’s 3rd draw in as many premier league games for the 2009-10 champions who are now 4th in the table, a point behind Tottenham, having played 2 games more than Harry Redknapp’s men. Villas-Boas said:

Chelsea were on course for a victory today when Juan Mata fired them ahead two minutes into the second half but Clint Dempsey equalised for Fulham nine minutes later before Fulham goalkeeper David Stockdale made some excellent saves to deny the Blues going in front. Villas-Boas added:

“With City and United continuing to get the points they are getting at the moment, it’ll be difficult. That is the perspective we have to make at the moment: it’s difficult. It’s not impossible. You cannot say that.

“But we have to focus on our position at the moment and make a real assessment. Maybe the Premier League is over for us at the moment. We’d targeted the December fixtures as an ideal situation to find out what would happen in the Premier League. We continue to do that.”
