The Vikings have signed Richardson to a one-year deal after he spent one season with the Seattle Seahawks following a trade from the New York Jets. Selected 13th overall by the Jets in 2013, Richardson has 285 tackles and 19 sacks in five seasons. His arrival is a significant boost to a Minnesota defense that ranked first in the NFL last season as the Vikings progressed to the NFC Championship Game, only to lose to the Philadelphia Eagles....

Arvidsson was injured in the first period of Saturday’s game against the St. Louis Blues, when he was cross-checked into the Blues’ net by defenseman Robert Bortuzzo. He fell after hitting his head on the crossbar. As the 26-year-old tried to get up, Bortuzzo delivered another check to Arvidsson’s back, knocking him down again before goaltender Jordan Binnington delivered another hit to the forward. The tag team and their manager Carmella were reported to be backstage at a recent SmackDown tapings and were said to be received well by the people there. While the popular belief is that we will see them on the main roster before the end of the year, there are also quite a few questions with regards to their not working the NXT Tag Team title match at takeOver in Brooklyn this month....

It once looked like that person would be Latavius Murray, after the former Raiders Pro Bowler signed a three-year, $15 million free-agent deal in March. That all changed when the team drafted Dalvin Cook in the second round (No. 41 overall) in April. It was a bad sign for Murray, also dealing with recovery from offseason ankle surgery, that the Vikings aggressively traded up to get Cook. Murray’s first uphill battle is just being able to get on the field healthy at some point in training camp....

The receiver re-signed with Minnesota after Chad Beebe tore ligaments in his ankle, making him the No. 3 receiver on the team, according to ESPN, which cited unidentified sources. Treadwell was selected by the Vikings as a 2016 first-round pick, and spent the last three years with the team before being released this summer. His salary already was guaranteed by the Vikings for 2019 and was going to be paid by the team regardless, so now Minnesota appears to be trying to get some bang for the buck with Treadwell....

New Orleans felt blessed last week when veteran leader and future Hall-of-Fame quarterback Drew Brees returned from a four-week absence after suffering 11 broken ribs and a punctured lung. Brees struggled early against the Chiefs but nearly mounted a second-half comeback against the defending Super Bowl champions, ultimately falling short 32-29. Meanwhile, the Vikings are likely just thankful their season is almost mercifully over and that they have Offensive Player of the Year candidate Dalvin Cook on their side....

The two-time Belgium international, 29, reunites with City coach Warren Joyce, who worked with De Laet at Royal Antwerp and while in charge of Manchester United’s reserves. De Laet, who was part of Leicester City’s Premier League-winning squad in the first half of 2015-16, has struggled for game time since joining Villa two years ago. “Ritchie has a lot of experience at a very high level and his quality and versatility provides us with a number of options,” Joyce said of De Laet, who joins City as a marquee player....

Villarreal have been promoted back to the Primera Division at the first time of asking as they beat promotion challengers Almeria 1-0 at El Madrigal. With both sides locked on 74 points before kick-off, the winner would join Elche in being automatically promoted and Jonathan Pereira got the crucial goal for the hosts 10 minutes into the second-half. Defeat for Almeria means that they will now have to go through the playoffs if they are to return to the top-flight for the first time since the 2010/11 season....

The actors—who first starred alongside one another in the 2011 movie Fast Five—publicly fell out back in 2016 while working on The Fate of the Furious, with Johnson questioning Diesel’s professionalism in an Instagram post. Johnson later quit the franchise after The Fate of the Furious, starring instead in his own 2019 spinoff, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, opposite Jason Statham. But after trading a number of barbs with Johnson, Diesel has asked him to return to the fold in honor of their late co-star Paul Walker, who died in a car crash unrelated to the hit films in November 2013, midway through production on Fast & Furious 7....
